It’s about time, right? My zombie apocalypse epic THE REDEMPTION PROJECT will be out soon! Well, some of it. (By the way, I know this is off-topic for a fitness blog…but I HAD to get the word out!)
I can still remember how my comic got started. I had just finished watching the first episode of THE WALKING DEAD, and I posted about it on Facebook. My comment was, “I enjoyed the episode immensely. I always wanted to write my own zombie story, but zombies in and of themselves are kind of boring. With so many movies and books already done, I wouldn’t know where to go with it.”
This post was responded to by a friend of mine, who got into a talk with me that got the creative juices flowing. At first the story was to be written in three parts, but then I realized that would actually be TOO SHORT. I expanded it to five, basing this on the idea that Shakespeare always wrote his plays in five acts. For a while, I jokingly called it SHAKESPEARE WITH ZOMBIES.
I don’t remember when the title THE REDEMPTION PROJECT came to me, but I do know it was in a flash. I’m big on themes, and I realized immediately this title would fit because just about every major character in the story commits some action (or inaction) that causes a fall from grace, and they have to redeem themselves. So the title stuck.
It took me over a year to write the story. So far, I have found only one artist to draw any of it. That would be Chuck Bowman. He has created the first 17 pages for me. Unfortunately, due to time restraints, Chuck cannot commit to it. Hopefully when the story comes out, it will attract the attention of someone who can stay on for the long haul.
In any event, I’m glad this moment is almost here. The book will be out in 3-4 weeks. Until then, you can check out some of the drawings by going to Chuck’s art page on Facebook and looking in the photo album. There is no dialogue there so you won’t know the story yet, but at least you can see the pretty pictures!
I encourage you all to leave comments here or there, as well as on the pictures!
