Another Random Poem: “An Old Shoe”

Here is a poem I composed randomly at work one day. Some images may be cliche (the ladder to the sky), but I wrote things as they came to my head. There has been only one revision: in the line “…and throw this blanket over the world,” I originally had the word “quilt” there, but I replaced it because that word had just occurred in the previous line.
*****
The creation book:
is it worth anything?
Does it carry any real treasure,
any lost gems,
any unfulfilled potential?
Who’s to say?
Who is the judge?
No one…and everyone.
Placed neatly inside
these tight cubicle walls,
with dreams spilling over
with their delirious amount
of energy and beauty,
I need a chance to grasp
at those dreams again.
Pluck them from my subconscious,
these gems, and sew them into a quilt.
Climb this ladder up to the sky
and throw this blanket over the world.
Cover them with my dreams
until they became as familiar
as an old shoe.
Be that household name,
no longer the loser who dreams of winning.

My other hobbies include writing, playing guitar, reading, watching movies, and listening to music. Recently I have gotten back into fitness, and this time I am DETERMINED to get the washboard abs...whether my metabolism will cooperate with me or not! The purpose of this blog is to write not only about my hobbies, but also about whatever crosses my mind, whether it is something I don't understand or something that aggravates me. So join me as I indulge my tendency to think too much about topics that don't usually cross anyone else's mind!
