Novella: Latest…News?

Well, I wouldn’t really say it’s “news,” but what else can I call it?

A decade and a half after it was written, I may have finally found a home for my novella “Maybe the Dream Knows What’s Real.” I say “finally” because there is an editor named Perry Terrell who is still in the process of reading it, so I can’t say for sure it will see the light of day. However, this may be the closest it will ever get because of two reasons:

*No one publishes novellas anymore. For those of you who don’t write, a novella is a story whose word count makes it too long for a short story, too short for a novel. Publishers don’t like to produce them because they don’t sell well.

*No one serializes stories anymore. Again, for the non-writing crowd, “serializing” is when bits of a story are published over several issues of a magazine.

Perry is the editor of several publications. The first one I ever heard about was called Conceit Magazine. However, if he accepts this story, it will see print in the pages of Spontaneous Spirits.

Why?

Because SS is meant for more mature material, and “Maybe the Dream…” definitely fits that category.

I’ll talk more about the story itself in another post. For this one, I just wanted to share my excitement that it might finally come out!
